A place made for humans.
Work, life, and the parts of us we’re taught to hide.
This site isn’t a pitch.
Nor much of a funnel.
I’ve got nothing to sell, nor a belief system I want to prescribe.
It’s just a place to connect, learn, and share some things that matter to me:
Doing work I’m proud of.
Living well for those I care about.
And trying to stay human.
Who I am.
Like most of us, I think it depends on who you ask.
But my name’s Chris.
I run a boutique real estate business called River, leading a team of outstanding humans who I respect and adore.
I structure my weeks around family, career, and passion.
Mostly, I just try to show up as the kind of person I’d want in my own life.
Or someone I wish I’d known.
It hasn’t always come easy.
Who I’m not.
A hero. A guru. A thought leader with a course to sell.
I’m not someone who always has the answers.
Or someone who always gets it right.
I’ve made plenty of mistakes.
I’ve failed quite a bit.
And learned too many things the hard way.
These days, I care less about being impressive, and more about being useful.
It took me a long time to figure out the difference.
My story.
Who I am, and who I’m trying to be.
Hopefully nothing grandiose.
Just a little more about my journey,
and the parts I’m still learning how to share.
What you’ll find here.
In general, this is a place for stories that cost me something to write, and hard truths I’ve learned along the way.
Not just a highlight reel at the end.
So there are some wins.
Plenty of losses.
And more than a few hard won lessons.
You’ll also come across my thoughts on life, business, values, and meaning. And the occasional reminder that we’re allowed to build things slowly, imperfectly, and in our own way.
So if you’ve ever found yourself rethinking how you live, how you work, or how you show up for the people around you?
Maybe you’ll find it useful.
What you won’t find.
Posturing. Highlight reels. Inflated ideals.
The internet is full of voices trying to sell you certainty. People pretending they’re something that they’re not.
I know because that was once me.
For a lot longer than I care to admit
If I’m honest, all of this is a work in progress. I am too.
So it’s made for those of us in-between.
For people who want to build something real.
And for those of us who are tired of the facade.
Because none of us need another self-proclaimed hero or guru.
We just need more humans.
Anchors
No pitch.
Nothing to sell.
And not at all perfect.
Just reminders I return to when I’m lost, restless, or out of step with myself.
So what’s next?
It’s really up to you.
If something landed, feel free to look around.
But regardless of where you go.
Right now, or tomorrow.
In the next year, or the next decade.
My only wish, is that you go there well.
That you have the courage to be yourself.
And that you stand up for who you are.
