Get to know me

When I'm not out on the ocean, spending time with my wife and kids, or running award-winning real estate brand, River, I pour my passion into helping ambitious people simplify success to create a life and business that fulfils them.

Nothing fires me up more than helping others achieve their business or career goals.

My superpower? Systems

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been able to take the complex and break it down into a system that shortcuts results

I’ve got a knack for seeing the missing pieces of the puzzle and a strong intuition for leadership, which enables me to create an environment where every individual feels supported to reach their goals.

The proudest moments in my life so far (besides that time I watched my kids’ eyes light up with wonder on our first trip to Hawaii) would have to be:

  • Overcoming the fears, unlocking the doubt, and embracing the challenges of life,

  • Creating a business culture where everyone's unique personalities and skills are not only welcomed but celebrated,

  • Training and growing over 40 professional careers at River,

  • Learning how the power of purpose can fuel profits, and

  • Developing strategy which enhances performance and opens opportunities.

But I didn't always get to spend my days leading a thriving team and hanging out on the ocean with my family.

The backstory

As a kid, I spent my afternoons helping out my stepdad with his property business, while my mum ran a busy material and haberdashery business.

Hard work was the norm, and I watched both of them work long days and weather the rough storms that entrepreneurship brings.

When I left school, I fell into a job as a plasterer, and my strong work ethic soon turned that into a business of my own. Fast forward a few years, and I found myself in the construction industry, cutting my teeth in the development world.

This is where I learnt some of my hardest business lessons, which ultimately ended in losing my and my family’s money to the harsh reality of corporate insolvency.

An unplanned detour

Falling from such a height - flat to the ground - was a shock, and I found myself back in the real estate industry supporting my mum’s business, Hunter River Realty.

That first day in the office, I had no listings and no experience, but I also had nothing to lose.

For two years, I barely came up for air. I worked long hours, I built relationships, and I turned my career around. Nine years later, I took over the reins of Hunter River Realty and rebuilt the business of River.  I now lead a team of passionate professionals with one of the most influential track records in the entire Hunter region.

The sweet spot

The highs and lows of entrepreneurship have taught me a thing or two about business. I've learnt that success isn't linear, that your mental game is more important than your experience, and that technology means nothing without technique.

And, most importantly, I need to have a clear vision that inspires me and pulls me forward - even if those around me can’t see it yet.

Now, I serve my clients with the same 360-degree approach that's worked for me: defining the vision, designing the framework, and creating powerful momentum for change.
